Michael Halley has lived in Fairfield since 1993 and served on the city council since 2010. In 1995 he co-founded a green retail business in downtown Fairfield. Halley served as the president of Fairfield's Visitors Bureau from 2007-2010, president of the Fairfield Volunteer Center from 2010-2013, president of the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce from 2014-2016, and as a founding member of the University of Iowa College of Public Health Business Leadership Network from 2012-2017. In 2016 he completed the Iowa League of Cities Municipal Leadership Academy, and in 2017 he joined the Iowa League of Cities Legislative Policy Committee and Environmental Coordination Committee. In 2019 he joined the Jefferson County Retired Senior Volunteer Program advisory council. In his free time he enjoys being dad to his sons, Josh and Skylar, planting trees, and coaching at Boom Fitness. Halley is proud to serve Fairfield's diverse community.
